Skandha Sashti Kavacham is the slokam in prayer to and in praise of Sri Skandha who is also hailed as Sri Muruga, Sri Subramanya, Sri Karthikeya and innumerable other names.
The Slokam was composed in Tamil by Sri Devaraya. Sincere recitation of this Slokam is believed to provide protective armor against all illness, negativity and enmity. It also provides success and prosperity.
Skandha Sashti Kavacham is provided in Tamil and English scripts with a simple English translation. The benefits of chanting this slokam is embedded in the text itself.

துதிப்போர்க்கு வல்வினைபோம் துன்பம்போம் நெஞ்சில்

Whoever sincerely meditates on the pure Skandha and reciting this slokam shall get the ill effects of their karma alleviated and their troubles vanished. Whoever retains the slokam in their mind shall get salvation and their wishes will be fulfilled.
This preliminary prayer is composed in the meter called Nerisai VeNba (நேரிசைவெண்பா).

Sri Muruga has the spear which resembles the red ray of sun. He is ascribed with the Sashti Tithi. He is the personified form of the Mantra “Sa Ra Va Na Bha Va”. He helps the pious and good devotees. The anklets in His holy feet make pleasing musical notes.

This Skandha Sashti Kavacham has to be read and recited with utmost concentration; For those who memorize this kavacham with utmost devotion wearing the holy ash shall get all the directions under his control; He will get the blessings of Ashta dhik palakas; His enemies will come and surrender to him; The nine planets shall bless him for his devotion; He will get as attractive as Manmadha; He will be blessed with all the sixteen types of wealth.
