Sri Ganesha Slokam is the compilation of the prayer hymns chanted for invoking Sri Ganesh prior to performing any Puja or Homam ritual. As Sri Ganesh is the primary God, His blessings are sought for the proper commencement and successful completion of any work.
Sri Ganesha Slokam is presented in Devanagari and English scripts with a simple English translation.
शुक्लाम्बरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चत्य्र्भुजम्
प्रसन्न वदनं द्यायेत् सर्व विघ्नोप शान्तये (1)
shukla-ambara-DharaM viShNuM shashi-varNaM chathur-bhujam
prasanna vadhanaM dhyaayeth sarva vighnopa shaanthaye
Sri Ganesh adorns the sky as the garment. He is all prevading and omni present. He adorns the moon. He has four shoulders. He has the pleasant face. We pray to Him to remove all obstacles and bless us peace.
अगजानन पद्मार्कं गजाननमहर्निशम्
अनेकदं तं भक्तानां एकदन्तमुपास्महे (2)
agajaanana padhmaarkaM gajaanana-maharnisham
anekadhaM thaM bhakthaanaaM ekadhantham-upaasmahe
Sri Ganesh is the Son of Sri Parvathi, who is the daughter of the mountain King. Similar to the lotus blooming at the rays of the Sun, Sri Parvathi Devi’s face gets radiance at the sight of Her Son Ganapathi, who has the elephant face. Sri Ganesh always grants the wishes and desires of His sincere devotees. Let us meditate upon and pray to the God with the single tusk.
वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा (3)
vakrathuNda mahaakaaya sooryakoti samaprabha
nirvighnaM kuru me dheva sarvakaaryeShu sarvadhaa
Sri Ganesh has the curved trunk. His body is magnificent. He is as resplendent as the crore Suns. We pray to Him for the removal of obstacles in all our endeavours and activities.
गजाननं भूत गणादि सेवितं
कपित्थ जम्बू फलसार भक्षितम्
उमासुतं शोकविनाश कारकं
नम्ममि विघ्नेश्वर पाद पङ्कजम् (4)
gajaananaM bhootha gaNaadhi sevithaM
kapithTha jamboo phalasaara bhakShitham
umaasuthaM shokavinaasha kaarakaM
nammami vighneshvara paadha panGkajam
Sri Ganesh has the elephant face. He is worshipped by the celestial warriors and goblets. He partakes of wood apple, jambu and other fruits fondly. He is the Son of Sri Uma Devi. He is responsible for the removal and destruction of the causes of all worries and sadness. Let us meditate on the lotus feet of Sri Vighneshvara.
मूषिकवाहन मोदकहस्त चामरकर्ण विलम्बितसूत्र
वामनरूप महेश्वरपुत्र विघ्नविनायक पाद नमस्ते (5)
mooshika-vaahana modhaka-hastha chaamara-karNa vilambitha-soothra
vaamana-roopa maheshvara puthra vighna-vinaayaka paadha namasthe
Sri Ganesh rides on the mouse. He has the modhakam in His hands. His ears are like broad hand fans. He wears the longer holy thread. He appears shorter. He is the Son of Sri Maheshvar, Bhagwan Shiva. Let us meditate upon the holy feet of Sri Vignesh, the remover of obstacles.
विघ्नेश्वराय वरदाय सुरप्रियाय
लम्बोदराय सकलाय जगद्धिताय
नागनानाय श्रुतियज्ञविभूषिताय
गौरीसुताय गणनाथ नमो नमस्ते (6)

Sri Ganesh is the Bhagwan removing troubles and obstacles. He blesses and bestows boons. He is loved by the Devas. He has the large stomach. He pervades in everything and He is everything. He has created the universe. He adorns the snake as the waist ornament. He is the primary Deity of the Homams / Yagnas. He is the Son of Sri Gowri. Let us meditate on Sri Ganesh, the Lord of the Ganas, the celestial warriors.
