Sri Kopineshwar Mandir is ascribed to the worship of Bhagwan Shiv. It is situated at Thane, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Shiv Ling at this temple is said to be one of the biggest Shiv Lings in Maharashtra.
The temple is situated near Masunda Lake which is also known as Thalo Pali.
It is believed that Kopineshwar Temple was built by the Shilahara dynasty. It was renovated and rebuilt in 1760. In 1879, the maha mandapam was built. The temple is said to be renovated again in 1996.
The Shiv Ling at the main sanctum approximately has 5 feet diameter and more than 4 feet height. It is believed that the Shiv Ling is slowly growing every year.
Sri Nandikeshwar is situated at the elevated Maha Mandapam where the main shrine is situated.
The temple has Deepasthambam, the pillar of lamps. There are other shrines dedicated to Sri Brahma, Sri Ram, Sri Hanuman, Sri Sheethala Devi, Sri Dattatreya, Sri Uttareshwar and Sri Kali Devi.
The temple is easily reachable from Thane Railway Station.
