Sri Lalitha Panchakam

Sri Lalitha Panchakam
Sri Lalitha Devi

Sri Lalitha Panchakam is the slokam in praise of and as prayer to Sri Lalitha Devi, one of the manifestations of Goddess Parvathi. This Slokam describes the attributes and divine qualities of Sri Lalitha Devi.  Of the Dasha Maha Vidya manifestations, Sri Lalitha Devi represents Sri Tripura Sundari and Sri Shodashi.

Sri Lalitha Panchakam was composed by Sri Adi Sankaracharya. It contains five stanzas each denoting the features of Sri Lalitha Devi and the compassion She showers on Her ardent devotees. The additional stanza at the end describes the benefits of reading and reciting this Slokam.

Sri Lalitha Panchakam is also called as Sri Lalitha Pancha Rathnam. The Devanagari and the English scripts with a simple English translation are provided in this narrative.

In the early morning, I keep in my mind the glorious lotus like face of Sri Lalitha Devi. Her lips are like bimba fruits. Her nose is decorated with a shining pearl. Her beautiful large eyes are long up to Her ears. She is adorned with the ear ornaments made of precious gems. Her face is bright with a gentle endearing smile. She adorns the tilak made of Kasthuri on Her dazzling forehead.

In the early morning, I worship Sri Lalitha Tripura Sundari whose arms resemble the wish- bestowing creepers (like branches of Kalpa Vruksha). Her fingers resemble tender leaves. She adorns ruby red finger rings. Her arms are decorated with the golden bracelets embedded with precious gems. She carries the sugarcane bow, flower arrows and a goad in Her arms.

In the early morning, I humbly salute the lotus like feet of Sri Lalitha Tripura Sundari. Her feet bestow and bless the desires of the sincere devotees. Her feet enable the devotees to cross the ocean of worldly life comprising of birth and death. Her feet are devoutly worshipped by Sri Brahma, who sits on the lotus and other leaders of the Devas. Her feet are endowed with the markings of Ankusha, the goad, lotus, flag and Sudarshan chakra.

Her auspiciousness is the epitome of all education; it is beyond the rhetorical purview either through mind or through speech.
