Sri Ranganatha Ashtakam is the Slokam in praise of and as prayer to Sri Ranganatha Swamy, one of the manifestations of Sri Maha Vishnu.
Sri Ranganatha Ashtakam was composed by Sri Adi Sankaracharya. He had composed the hymns when he visited Sri Rangam to have His darshan.
Sri Ranganatha Ashtakam contains eight stanzas each describing the attributes of Sri Ranganatha Swamy. The benefits of reciting this Slokam is appended as the last stanza.
Sri Ranganatha Ashtakam is presented in Devanagari and English Scripts with a simple English translation.
आनन्द रूपे निजबोध रूपे ब्रह्मस्वरूपे श्रुतिमूर्ति रूपे
शशाङ्क रूपे रमणीय रूपे श्रीरङ्ग रूपे रमतां मनो मे (1)

Sri Ranganatha is in the form which is the eternal bliss; He is in the form of the self-actualization. He is in the form of the scriptures which are sung and composed. His form emanates coolness like the moon. His form is excellent and exquisite.

कावेरितीरे करुणाविलोले मन्दारमूले धृतचारुकेले

Sri Ranganatha does divine play-acts. He showers His compassion and blessings at the banks of Cauvery river. He assumes sportive appearances at the roots of the mandara tree. He does the enaction of destroying the demons in the various avathars.

लक्ष्मी निवासे जगतां निवासे हृत्पद्मवासे रवि बिम्बवासे

Sri Ranganatha lives in and with Sri Mahalakshmi, His consort. He lives in the entire world. He lives in the lotuses of the hearts of His devotes. He lives in the orbit of the Sun. He exists in His benevolence and compassion. He exists in His virtues. He lives in Sri Rangam.

Sri Ranganatha is sincerely worshipped by Sri Brahma and other Deities. He is worshipped by the entire universe as one God. He is worshipped by Mukundha. He is worshipped by Indra, the Lord of the Devas. He is worshipped by Vyasa and other Sages. He is worshipped by Sanakadhi Sages.

Sri Ranganatha is the Lord of Sri Brahma. He is the Lord of Garuda. He is the Lord of Vaikunt. He is the Lord of Indra, the lord of the Devas. He is the Lord of the three worlds. He is the Lord of the entire universe.

अमोघ मुद्रे परिपूर्ण निद्रे श्रीयोग निद्रे ससमुद्र निद्रे

Sri Ranganatha is in the constant and consistent posture. His sleeping posture is absolute. He is in yoga posture. He rests on the cosmic ocean. His sleeping posture is the form of auspiciousness. His posture only absorbs the universe.

सचित्र शायी भुजगेन्द्र शायी नन्दाङ्क शायी कमलाङ्क शायी

Sri Ranganatha’s reclining posture is the auspicious picture with various dresses and jewels. He reclines over the Lord of the serpents. He rests in the lap of Nanda Gopa and Yashodha. He reclines on the lap of Sri Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of lotus. He reclines on the cosmic milky ocean. He reclines and rest on the banyan leaf (as Sri Bala Krishna).
I blissfully meditate on the auspicious reclining posture of Sri Ranganatha Swamy at Sri Rangam.
इदं हि रङ्गं त्यजतामिहाङ्गं पुनर्न चाङ्गं यदि चाङ्गमेति
पाणौ रथाङ्गं चरणेऽम्बु गाङ्गं याने विहङ्गं शयने भुजङ्गम् (8)
idhaM hi ranGgaM thyajathaamiha-anGgaM punar-na cha-anGgaM yadhi cha-anGgamaethi
paaNau raThaanGgaM charaNae-ambu gaanGgaM yaanae vihanGgaM shayanae bhujanGgam
This is certainly Sri Rangam. Any person shedding his physical body here (last breath) will not be born again if it has taken refuge in the Lord Ranganatha. Sri Ranganatha holds discus in His hand. River Ganga originates in His lotus feet. He rides on Garuda. He rests on the bed of serpent.

रङ्गनाथाष्टकम्पुण्यं प्रातरुत्थाय यः पठेत्
सर्वान् कामानवाप्नोति रङ्गिसायुज्यमाप्नुयात् (9)
ranGganaaTha-aShtakam-puNyaM praathar-uthThaaya yah paTeth
sarvaan kaamaan-avaapnoathi ranGgi-saayujyam-aapnuyaath.
The person who reads and recites this Sri Ranganatha Ashtakam early in the morning shall be blessed with the fulfillment of his desires and wishes. He attains the world of Sri Ranganatha and is liberated with mukthi.
